Arrest and Assault Charge

Ryan Porteous, a 23-year-old Scottish professional footballer, has recently been arrested and charged in connection with an alleged assault. Sky Sports News reported the incident on Wednesday, citing sources familiar with the investigation.

Tribute Theft Allegation

Porteous has also been accused of being part of a group that stole a tribute from a woman to her mother, who had passed away from dementia. The incident allegedly occurred at a local park where the victim had placed a memorial for her late mother.

Court Appearance

Porteous appeared in court on a separate charge of throwing a glass that struck a woman on the head outside a Midlothian nightclub. The incident is said to have occurred in the early hours of the morning.

Professional Career

Despite these controversies, Porteous has had a successful football career. He made 157 appearances for Hibernian, a Scottish Premiership club, before signing a four-and-a-half-year deal with EFL Championship club Watford in January 2023.

International Appearances

Porteous is also a member of the Scotland national team and has represented his country at the youth and senior levels. He has earned four caps for the senior team, making his debut in 2021.
